Marika Konstantinidou is a visual artist born in Athens and raised between Athens, Paris & Chania, Crete. She has studied Textual Sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy of Vienna, glassblowing at the Large Glass department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Amsterdam, and Plastic Arts and Art Sciences at the Sorbonne University (Paris I). Her research touches upon issues of memory, materiality, transparency and the archive through the media of sculpture, painting, printing and performance. She has exhibited her work in Greece and internationally in independent spaces (Closed Gallery / Thessaloniki, Six D.o.g.s. / Athens), galleries (Kunstburo / Vienna), institutions (Stedelijk Museum/ Amsterdam, Onassis Cultural Center / Athens), art fairs & festivals (Parallel Art Fair / Vienna, Athens Biennale, Athens Video Art Festival, P-Public / Chania) and has participated in various workshops and residencies. As an independent curator and cultural producer she runs the curatorial platform Foreign Vessels since 2021, enabling interdisciplinary research on notions such as inbetweenness, hosting, carrying and migrating through collaborativeand site-responsive protocols. She has also curated and assisted in the production of various other exhibitions and events for galleries and institutions in Greece and France, collaborating with a plethora of artists, writers and scholars.
